Leader in Marine Cartography Offering Free Subscriptions to Qualifying Organizations

Egersund, Norway – C-MAP®, a leader in digital marine cartography and cloud-based mapping, announced today it has opened its BioBase™ EcoSound™ platform to include free subscriptions to qualifying organizations.

Owned by Navico and operated through C-MAP, BioBase is a platform for aquatic biologists, environmental researchers and government agencies that play a vital role in monitoring programs related to long-term changes to vegetation density, water quality and bottom hardness. Navico is providing free BioBase EcoSound subscriptions with up to 20 GB of storage to environmental agencies, non-profits and universities engaged in aquatic resource management and research in an effort to further the goals of aquatic conservation by maximizing access to a market-leading scientific tool, used for the analysis, management and preservations of critical water bodies. Navico will also be offering discounts on Lowrance® hardware for qualifying United States based agencies and universities.

The EcoSound product processes raw data from Lowrance or Simrad sonar logs, creating detailed maps and data outputs of bathymetry (depth contours), aquatic vegetation abundance and bottom hardness. In addition, the BioBase EcoSat™ product processes high-resolution satellite imagery from a number of sources, creating maps of emergent vegetation and bottom composition in areas often too shallow for boat-based data collection. Both BioBase products deliver state-of-the-art analytics in a clean, cloud-based dashboard, with a range of export options for both mapping and data.

The BioBase team is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and currently supports more than 260 researchers and institutions, including governmental agencies in North and South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region.
