Sturtevant, Wis. – Evinrude announced today that Evinrude angler Bryan Thrift won the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) Cup Championship, held August 9-11 on Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas. This was Thrift’s first Championship win.

Thrift finished with a three-day total of 15 bass weighing 38 pounds, 7 ounces, winning by a 5-pound, 1-ounce margin. Fellow Evinrude pros Scott Martin and Josh Douglas finished fifth and eighth respectively. Sunday’s final weigh-in marked the finale of the 2019 FLW Tour, which featured 52 of the best professional bass anglers from across North America. Leading the tournament on all three days of competition, Thrift took home the $300,000 top prize.

Since he joined the Tour in 2007, Thrift has had tremendous success, finishing in the top-10 in the Angler of the Year standings every year. In his first season, Thrift took home the FLW Tour Rookie of the Year trophy. In 2010 he won the prestigious FLW Angler of the Year trophy. In his 13-year career, he has finished 67 times in the top ten and won 12 tournaments. His career earnings are over $3 million, making him the second all-time leading money winner in FLW history.

“I have been very fortunate to turn a pastime that I love into a career,” said Thrift. “My success in this event, as well as over the past several years has all been due to being able to count on my equipment to get me where I need to go, get on the fish and bring them in. I have trusted my Evinrude engine for years and it has never let me down.”

“We are very excited about Bryan’s continued success,” said Tracy Crocker, president of the BRP Marine Group. “This has been an exciting year on the professional fishing tournament circuit and we look forward to the upcoming year.”
