Sturtevant, Wis. – Evinrude announced today that Evinrude professional angler Terry Bolton won the first Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) event of 2019, held January 10-14 on Sam Rayburn Reservoir in Brookeland, Texas. This was the Benton, Kentucky resident’s first win after 24 years on the Tour.

Bolton’s total of 91-pounds, 3-ounces edged out fellow Evinrude anglers Bryan Thrift and Jim Tutt, who came in third and fifth place, respectively. His win earned him a $125,000 prize and points putting him in the lead for the Angler of the Year standings.

“I was thinking of retiring after last year, but it’s hard to give up the fun of competitive fishing,” said Bolton. “With a lot of encouragement from my wife to keep doing what I love, I decided to come back for another season. My technique and equipment are pretty well dialed in, I just needed to add a little luck. Hopefully, I’ll be able to keep this momentum going throughout the rest of the year.”

“We are very excited about Terry’s win this weekend,” said Nando Zucchi, vice president of marketing and international business development, Evinrude. “With so many anglers competing in the same tournament, many fans don’t realize how hard it is to actually win. Terry is a shining example of a world class angler that exemplifies the professionalism and determination of every member of Team Evinrude. We wish him continued success in the upcoming year.”
