Tulsa, Okla. – Lowrance®, a world-leader in fishing electronics since 1957, dominated the Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) event on Lake Martin in Alexander City, Alabama, March 18-21, 2020. Lowrance Pros took eight of the top 10 spots, led by Piney Flats, Tennessee angler Jason Abram. Claiming his first tournament title, Abram took home the $100,000 price with a four-day total of 52-pounds, 9-ounces. Of the top 30 boats on Friday, 19 were running Lowrance electronics and five had new Ghost trolling motors. Abram began his career in 1999 as a co-angler. Since then he has had five FLW top 10 finishes in the 131 events he’s fished.

As an open-air sport that disperses competitors on thousands of acres of water, tournament fishing allows for social distancing as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control to help combat the spread of COVID-19. Pre-tournament meetings can be modified, check-in times can be staggered and additional precautions can be taken during weigh-ins to maintain social distancing guidelines.

Thanks to the unique format of the event being altered due to the COVID-19 virus outbreak, Abram and the rest of the field went straight from practicing to competition, with no day off. That helped Abram, who had just started figuring out in practice that big, prespawn female largemouths were hanging underneath the last docks in a pocket, warming themselves, before making the final move to spawn.
