Canton, GA – ePropulsion, a global leader in electric marine propulsion systems and services, is proud to announce that the GR63 Eco-Catamaran has been successfully launched. Marking a new era in sustainable luxury yachting, the GR63 is not a concept of the future but a reality today — delivering zero-emission performance, uncompromising comfort, and unprecedented energy autonomy.
The GR63 has been designed, engineered and built to redefine expectations of what an electric yacht can achieve. The vessel combines cutting-edge technology, advanced materials and an industry-first energy management system, creating a new benchmark for innovation in the leisure marine sector.
Developed through close collaboration between ePropulsion and Gilles Reigner, the GR63 pairs a pioneering construction method with one of the most sophisticated electrical systems ever integrated into a vessel of its size. The result is a yacht that demonstrates how sustainability and luxury can move in unison, offering freedom, performance and responsibility at sea.
“ePropulsion’s system not only meets our technical requirements for zero-emission sailing but also enhances the reliability and range performance of the entire vessel through superior integration capabilities,” said Gilles Reigner. “This marks an important step towards sustainability in the luxury yacht industry, and ePropulsion is undoubtedly a key partner in achieving this goal.”
At the heart of the GR63 is an AI-based energy management system. This advanced platform continuously monitors and optimizes energy flows, balancing solar, wind, battery and fuel cell inputs in real time.
The system uses adaptive load management to prioritize propulsion, HVAC and hotel systems, maximizing efficiency in every condition. Predictive algorithms anticipate demand and adjust usage dynamically, maintaining autonomy even during extended voyages or in changing weather.
“The electrical system aboard the GR63 sets a new standard in marine electrification,” said Ricky Cole, Technical Director at ePropulsion. “It delivers true long-range, zero-emission performance while seamlessly integrating multiple energy sources. This is what the future of yachting should look like, and it is here today.”
The GR63 measures 19.2 meters (63-feet) and has been designed for complete energy independence. It is equipped with twin 110kW electric motors powered by a 284kWh LiFePO₄ battery bank, a 12kWp solar array that can generate over 66kWh of energy per day in Thailand’s conditions, vertical axis wind turbines providing 10kW of combined output, transparent solar glazing and a solar shading awning that both produce power without compromising design, and dual 15kW methanol fuel cells that provide clean, silent backup energy.
The hull and superstructure are built from a high-performance composite of basalt and aramid fiber, chosen for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio and durability.
The GR63 is as refined as it is innovative. A bespoke inverter-driven air conditioning system ensures quiet, efficient climate control with titanium heat exchangers and silent DC motor operation. A dedicated hydroponic cultivation space allows guests to enjoy fresh produce grown onboard. Every detail has been created with both comfort and sustainability in mind.
Certified CE Class A Ocean, the GR63 is engineered for serious bluewater cruising while delivering an onboard experience that combines modern luxury with low impact living.
The GR63 Eco-Catamaran is not a prototype or a concept of what may come. It is fully constructed, operational and ready to redefine expectations in luxury yachting. A formal launch will take place in the coming months when this groundbreaking vessel makes its debut on the water as a pioneer of the zero-emission ocean.

About ePropulsion:
ePropulsion was set up in 2012 and is led by a team of technology entrepreneurs that are focused on developing uncompromising superior products. Since the company launched its first electric outboard it has fast become a force to be reckoned with in the electric propulsion market with a presence across Europe, the US and Asia. ePropulsion set out with a clear mission to become the global leader in marine electric propulsion systems and services. This pioneering, market challenger brand is at the very forefront of the industry and is recognized across the world for its exceptional product quality, performance, and technological innovations.
ePropulsion was the first company to launch a brushless, direct-drive electric outboard motor in the market and offers a portfolio of 1 – 6kW outboard engines across its Spirit and Navy ranges. These are renowned for being high quality, quiet, eco-friendly and low maintenance. In 2022, ePropulsion expanded its OEM capabilities with the global debut of the H-Series, an innovative 60-250kW electric inboard motor for vessels between 60 to 100’ (18-30m) with full displacement up to 200 tons. Subsequently, the I-Series was introduced, an environmentally friendly electric inboard motor series with advanced technology, smart features, and human-centric design. Supported by the ePropulsion Smart System Architecture (eSSA) and IoT connectivity service, it offers users an unmatched, easy-to-use, intelligent, safe, and reliable experience. The latest additions to the lineup include the X Series and the eLite Motor. Unveiled at Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and METSTRADE 2023, the X Series features three innovative electric outboard motors—X12, X20, and X40—delivering remarkable propulsion systems with ingenious features. The all-new eLite is the smallest electric outboard in ePropulsion’s extensive portfolio. Benefiting from new technology and meticulous design, the eLite is set to transform the tender and small boat market.
ePropulsion remains focused on providing customized and pioneering services for OEMs across the world, offering fully flexible solutions for a wide range of commercial and leisure marine applications. www.ePropulsion.com
