Stonington, Conn. – The Coast Guard Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting Coast Guard members and families, is the presenting sponsor of the 2025 Coast Guard Marathon in Elizabeth City.

The Coast Guard Foundation team will be at the Marathon Expo on March 7-8 to meet race participants and guests and share ways the organization supports Coast Guard members and families. In addition, the team will be present at the 1K Fun Run and 5K Road Race on Saturday, and at the start and finish lines for the Half and Full Marathons on Sunday, March 9.

Locally in Elizabeth City, the Coast Guard Foundation’s support includes:

  • Morale support for Coast Guard members in Elizabeth City – including supporting the marathon operations, recreation gear, and Coast Guard Day celebrations
  • Youth enrichment grants for Coast Guard families in the area so kids could go to summer camp
  • Scholarships for college-aged Coast Guard children
  • And a unique scholarship for Elizabeth City specifically – the CAPT Ernest W. Fox Perpetual Scholarship is celebrating its 25th year of awarding an annual scholarship to a Coast Guard member or family member stationed at the Aviation Logistics Center

“We are excited to partner with Base Elizabeth City for the Coast Guard Marathon,” said Susan Ludwig, Coast Guard Foundation president. “This event is more than just a race, it’s a celebration of Coast Guard members’ dedication, resilience, and sacrifice, and the ways they serve our nation every day. We can’t wait to give a round of applause to the runners, volunteers, and everyone who is part of this Coast Guard event.”
